North Arcadia Beach

North Arcadia Beach

By William House

South of Cannon Beach, Oregon, lies a quiet, often deserted, stretch of sand called Arcadia Beach. It provides the quintessential qualities of the Oregon Coast that any serious beach walker desires. This artwork captures the north end of Arcadia Beach on a cool, late summer day. Rugged offshore rocks fade into a darkening sky and the gathering mist that hangs above cold Pacific water. The painting was created on a 24-inch-by-18-inch Adobe Fresco canvas using live watercolor and pastel brushes against a white background. The original work used 14 separate layers and 3 interdispersed contrast filters. The final image was rendered at 300 dpi as a high-resolution PNG and printed on giclee-quality Hahnemühle William Turner artist paper with a white border. (Fine Art from ArcheanArt)
