Mist at Yaquina Head
By William House
A misty fog creeps in from north of Yaquina Head, casting a veil over the lighthouse. Southeastern sunlight illuminates the grasses and flowers in the foreground slopes. Blues and greens of the cold Pacific swirl in the waters of the cove below the cliffs. This artwork was hand-painted in Adobe Fresco from an original photograph taken by the artist. The original digital canvas measured 24 inches by 18 inches at 300 dpi. Live oil brushes, augmented with hard pastel-style pixel brushes, were used in multiple layers to depict the ocean, land, and sky. Contrast and brightness filters helped to highlight different portions of the scene. The artwork was finished in Adobe Photoshop, where individual layers were adjusted and compiled.
